I've never met Rosa Parks, maybe I will someday, she's still alive .. she's the black woman who refused to give up her seat and to a white man and go to the back of the bus (mid 1950s), an act which helped precipitate the civil rights movement in the United States .. I've seen pictures of her in the paper, I've even heard her interviewed, but that was a long time ago .. she has a wonderful smile and all in all a very sweet demeanor .. like an aunt or a neighbor or a grandmother, and she knows it .. I think that's one of the reasons she's still an icon of the civil rights movement ..
and so many people can imagine they might have done what she did .. and they might have .. and like her, they could not possibly imagine what an impact it would have .. a tired shopper refusing to go to the back of the bus!!!
